This past weekend, I made the trip out to Douglassville, PA to visit Hidden River Brewing Company. It took a little over an hour, and it was well worth the trip. Hidden River is a hidden gem just feet from the Schuylkill River inside the historic Brinton Lodge at 1808 W Schuylkill Road in Douglassville, PA 19518. They just celebrated their third anniversary this past weekend, but don’t let their age fool you! They’re one of the best breweries in Pennsylvania!
They coincidentally tapped their most popular beer, Oatalaxy (below), last weekend, a 7.9% IPA loaded with oats and Galaxy Hops. The oats give it a fluffy texture and turbid color, and the hops give it citrus and passionfruit aromas. The shape of the glass captures the bitterness of the hops, but the oats gave it a well-balanced flavor. It truly represents everything Galaxy IPA’s should be.

The second beer I tried and fell in love with was The Peach Thief (below), a DIPA loaded with peach, lactose, vanilla, Galaxy, and Citra. This was what all other “creamsicle” beers dream of being. The Peach Thief was a beautiful marriage of creamy peach and hops.

They have a rotating dinner menu of locally-sourced foods, which they post every Thursday in the comments of their Facebook post. The kitchen opens at 4pm daily.
Hidden River is the best beer that I have ever tasted.
